Petróleos Mexicanos has entered the United States’ gas station market with the opening of 5 stations in the city of Houston, Texas.
These Pemex gas stations are owned by private investors (franchisees), who will determine the fuel´s selling prices according to Houston´s market conditions.
This opening is part of Pemex’s strategy to expand its horizons to the United States, in order to fulfil the mandate of economic value generation in the competitive environment derived from the energy reform.
This pilot stage will allow to measure the impact of Pemex’s brand against others identify business opportunities as part of the evaluation process to enter international markets.
For this first stage, the city of Houston was chosendue to its large Latin population, specifically Mexican, and also because it is a city with a highly competitive gas market.
Texas is an ideal location to test the penetration of Pemex’s brand, since it is the most competitive market in the world, and holds an important number of Pemex´s future competitors.
It is important to mention that the gas sold in these service stations will come from the USA’s wholesale market.

Pemex´s new service station is located at 7922 Park Place Blvd, Houston, Texas.
