PEMEX brings fire at Minatitlán Refinery under control

  • Three workers sustained burn injuries and another worker suffered a sprain from the incident.
  • There was no impact on the refinery's production.


Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) reports that a fire broke out at the U-100 plant located in Sector No. 3 of the Minatitlán Refinery in Veracruz, which was immediately contained and brought under control by firefighting personnel of the facility.

As a result of this incident, three workers sustained burn injuries and a fourth worker suffered a sprain. They were all were taken to the PEMEX Regional Hospital in Minatitlán for treatment. It is also worth mentioning that the refinery's production was not affected and that Petróleos Mexicanos will proceed to perform a root cause analysis of this accident as soon as conditions allow.

PEMEX reaffirms its commitment towards the safety of all workers who are part of this institution, as well as towards the communities where it operates, in order to ensure the timely response to this type of event.
